Short-Term Accommodation & Respite

Supporting participants and their loved ones through STA and respite care

What is short-term accommodation (STA)?

Short-Term Accommodation (STA), including respite, provides participants with temporary support and accommodation away from home. STA may also be right for you if your usual support network isn’t available for a short period.

A short stay away from home can:

  • Give you the chance to try new experiences
  • Provide opportunities to make friends or develop new skills
  • Help maintain your usual living situation by giving your informal supports a break

Short-term accommodation, including respite, with Allable

We integrate learning and development strategies into all areas of support, using each activity as an opportunity for growth and skill-building. Our respite services create a supportive and comfortable environment where participants can enjoy a change of scenery while continuing to work towards their goals.

Each stay is thoughtfully planned and tailored to individual interests, abilities, and support needs.

Participants are supported to

  • Develop daily living skills through consistent practice and guided independence
  • Engage in routines, recreational activities, and community participation
  • Work towards personal goals using the SMART goal approach
  • Participate in exciting activities of interest and choice
  • Develop social and communication skills

During your STA stay, you may choose activities such as

  • Visiting the beach or going on nature walks
  • Enjoying local attractions or theme parks such as Movie World, Dreamworld, or Wet’n’Wild
  • Visiting trampoline parks like Area 51 or Bounce
  • Exploring Gold Coast attractions like Infinity or Ripley’s Believe It or Not
  • Movie nights, bowling, gaming, or art and craft projects
  • Visiting a wildlife sanctuary to meet and interact with animals like kangaroos and koalas
  • Simply relaxing and recharging in a supportive environment

These are just some ideas of activities and adventures that may spark your interest. We’re completely open to anything you’d like to try. Just let us know and we will organise it, or provide an activity brochure with suggestions based on your interests.
